OPIN is a cross-sectoral collaborative network that aims to accelerate the growth of the ocean energy sector and its supply chains across the partner regions of Ireland, the UK, Belgium, France, the Netherlands and Germany.

The Innovation Support Scheme is aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within the ocean energy sector and its current or potential value chain. The Innovation Supports are designed to encourage both cross-sectoral and cross-regional collaboration between OPIN members.

There are three types of Innovation Support offered OPIN members:

  • Technology Assessment Process (TAP) Support
  • Collaborative Innovation Group (CIG) Support
  • Travel Support

OPIN TAP Support offers a high-level technology assessment to developers in the ocean sector who are looking to develop their technology and to developers in other sectors who are looking for opportunities to transfer technology into the ocean energy sector.

OPIN CIG Support is available to groups of SMEs who want to work collaboratively with each other and research entities or large companies. CIGs will work to solve specific problems which have been identified as barriers to deployment of ocean energy. OPIN will offer support to a Collaborative Innovation Groups to work together to find a solution to these issues.
