SEAI will be exhibiting at the 7th International Conference on Ocean Energy (ICOE), between June 12th - 14th, in Cherbourg, France. Hosted by West Normandy Marine Energy, ICOE is supported by the Normandy region, Manche Department, Le Cotentin Communauté d’Agglomération, Cherbourg-en-Cotentin City and the International Energy Agency (IEA) through Ocean Energy Systems (OES).

ICOE is a global event, drawing attendees from the European, American and Australasian renewable energy communitees. The conference aims to stimulate collaboration between companies, researchers and test centres. It brings together stakeholders from across the ocean energy sector (tidal, wave, salinity gradient, ocean thermal energy) to share their most recent updates on research, technology transfer efforts and technological demonstrations. The conference also encourages engagement from related industries, such as the energy and marine sectors.

At the previous conference in Edinburgh in 2016, ICOE brought together over 900 experts and 100 exhibitors from 25 different countries. This year’s conference promises to be the biggest yet aiming to gather over 3,500 experts, 220 exhibitors and facilitate more than 800 business meetings.

At this year’s conference, SEAI will have a pavilion stand in the exhibition hall (No. CD342). We welcome all Irish delegates to visit the stand and to make use of the meetings facilities there. On June 12th Declan Meally, SEAI’s Head of Department for Emerging Sectors, will be speaking in the Plenary Session - Opening Ceremony, in Auditorium 1 between 1:45pm-3:15pm, on how Ireland and the EU Commission are supporting the ocean energy sector. Later that day between 5.05-6.30pm in Auditorium 1 Declan will also be chairing the ‘Uptake from regions – Americas and Asia’ session and discussing the support the ocean energy sectors is receiving  international outside of Europe. We would encourage all conference goers to attend these panels and participate in the question and answers sessions. SEAI will also be available to answer any further questions at our stand throughout the conference.
