Vessel Infrastructure

Ireland has world-class marine research vessel infrastructure dedicated to  Marine Renewable Energy services support.

RV Celtic Explorer

The RV Celtic Explorer is a 65.5m in length marine research vessel and accommodates 35 personnel, including 19-21 scientists. The vessel is based in Galway, which is ideally located as the gateway to the Atlantic and geographically close to the main working areas.

ILV Granuaile

CIL’s vessel ILV Granuaile is a versatile 80 metre Class 1 DP vessel that serves our Aids to Navigation management and maintenance programme – and it is also available for hire. It is a high tech mobile platform for delivery of offshore activities.

RV Celtic Voyager

The RV Celtic Voyager launched in 1997 has wet, dry and chemical laboratories, which are permanently fitted with standard scientific equipment and can accommodate 6 - 8 scientists with a maximum endurance of 14 days. The vessel is manned by a very experienced crew who are highly skilled with the handling and deployment of scientific equipment. The RV Celtic Voyager facilitates the collection of fisheries, geophysical, oceanographic and environmental data.

RV Keary

The RV Keary is a purpose built, aluminium catamaran designed for the survey of shallow waters, with a draft of only 1.7m. The 15 metre fully-equipped and state of the art hydrographic/geophysical launch will deliver survey data that will meet all required international specifications.
